This multi-species Animal Resource Centre (ARC), located within a larger research facility, includes 11 species-specific holding rooms (mice, rats, guinea pigs, swine and non-human primates (NHP), operating rooms for large animal and rat surgery, diagnostic and GLP labs, cesium irradiator, and space for an MRI and Photon Microscope (future). The facility also includes cage wash, bedding and food storage, walk in freezer and user areas.
Adjacent to the Animal Resource Centre are a variety of Behavioural Testing Suites for high-frequency ultrasound, spinal cord, fine-motor skills, and gait analysis. Additionally, there are 3 multi-testing rooms that can accommodate a variety of different types of testing, vented cage racks and isolation cubicles for the animals. Portions of this facility were designed with radio-frequency shielding and sound and vibration isolation.
