Science Laboratory Consolidation
Humber College
Humber College required this 40,000 sf vertical expansion to the existing ‘Building F’ to consolidate their academic sciences laboratories into one dedicated facility.
NXL undertook the fit-out of 20,000 sf of laboratories on the 4th floor for biology, anatomy, funeral services including embalming and cosmetology, as well as related support areas. The area also includes interactive classrooms. The laboratory design incorporated mobile benching and writable surface upper-level lab cabinetry. The renovated Building F provides flexible, open and bright interactive teaching spaces for Humber’s growing sciences program; including interaction spaces for innovation, and carefully planned personnel flows. NXL used colorful wall segments to subdivide zones to allow for better air movement based on the teaching programs and yet still accessible during the lectures.
The building shell, 3rd-floor fit-out, student spaces, and amenities were undertaken by the Montgomery Sisam Architects.
